Our Glorious Year

As we decided to host our first AFS student we were filled with both eager anticipation and some trepidation. Once Mateus arrived we both knew we would be in for one of the great adventures of our lives. Though we are both from very different cultures we both share a love of many common things such as food, film, music, photography to name but a few. Matt has become part of our family and has flourished in our home. He has made many good friends through AFS and school and we hope he will look back on these memories with great fondness. I don't know who had been luckier through this experience, Misty and I as host parents or Mateus. I feel he has truly blessed us with his infectious curiousity and zeal for life. Though we will be sad to see him go next month, I know our pathes will cross again. Hoping to visit him one day in Brazil and feel truly blessed that God brought us together. To us Mateus is more than just a host student, but part of our family. I only hope that the small slice of life in America he got to experiece will stay with him for a lifetime, as I know our memories of him will endure. Matt we love you are wish you all the best!
