MAKING A FAMILY FOR LIFE

The Teters Family (Washington) and Sven from Switzerland
Going from the country and community you lived your whole life to an entirely new place and an unknown environment certainly is a huge step in everybody’s life. It was not different at all for me and I was extremely glad that I had a family I could count on, when times get hard. But I never expected that they would play such an important part in my personal growth and development. They taught me to be more independent, self-reliant and prepared. They showed me that I have to work hard and organize things by myself, in order to get what I desire; and never forget having fun. During so many experiences and trips, not always positive and happy, the bond between me and my host family grew and grew. With my brother - he is so close to me that I don’t even consider him as a host brother anymore - I had some of the best experiences of my life. No matter if a photo shooting on a playground, a walk through a windstorm or by teaching each other new games; we had countless great experiences together and got closer and closer. My host family was definitely an essential part on my exchange. They did not only affect my life, they literally changed my life. I am so happy that I was able to make a family for life. I am so happy that I was able to make THIS family for life.
